What is this song about?

Gentleness offered as the counterpart to a man's endurance, with his inner battles named as already won and a repeated request to be let in.

What Might This Song Do to the Listener?

An individual who plays Gentlewoman on repeat receives a verdict that the inner fight is already settled. The material addresses a fighter directly, credits the endurance it observes, and directs attention inward whenever external noise rises. Struggle acquires the character of something survived.

Sustained exposure strengthens willingness to accept gentleness from another person. Guardedness relaxes where trust is requested plainly, and the reflex to handle a conflict alone weakens. The individual grows readier to treat rest as earned.

What Might This Song Do to a Society?

A society that takes up Gentlewoman raises the standing of softness as a contribution to someone under strain. Communal rehearsal of an offer made to a fighter establishes tenderness as active work, and recognition of what a person has already endured becomes the ordinary way to address them. Care counts as strength.

Populations that circulate it grow more practised at naming resilience in one another out loud. People state requests for trust directly, and communities extend entry to whoever asks plainly. Households organize around mutual shelter as a stated arrangement.

Audience Vibe

The compass reads the lyrics. The Audience Vibe reads the people — the general place the audience thinks the compass should be pointing for this song, not a raw tally of votes. Two needles, one song; the gap between them is the data.

Do you think it should stay where it is, or be pushed further in one direction?

One vote per person per song per year. No single vote can move the needle far — it takes a crowd.

How the Audience Vibe is calculated

The needle is the compass score nudged by the crowd — never a raw tally. Every "push higher," "push lower," and "agree" vote is recombined into one position each time someone votes:

  • Direction comes from the split. Only the gap between higher and lower votes moves the needle. "Agree" votes pull it back toward the compass score.
  • It takes a crowd. Early votes move it gently — a handful shifts it only a point or two. The more lopsided the crowd, the further it goes.
  • It's capped. The audience can pull a song at most 15 points off the compass score, either direction. No pile-on can push it past that.

So a single "push lower" on a song with few votes moves the needle a little (often a point or two), not all the way down — and it can never run away.
