The Rising Compass ("we," "us," "our") operates risingcompass.net. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Automatically collected:

Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, device type, browser, and general geographic region. GA4 may set cookies on your device. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
IP address. Your IP address may be logged when you submit a Misread Report. It is used solely for abuse prevention.

Voluntarily provided:

Misread Reports. If you submit a Misread Report, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and your message. This information is used to review your submission and send a confirmation receipt.
Lyrical Charger. If you use the Lyrical Charger feature, your submitted song titles and artists are processed in a temporary session that expires after 30 minutes. No Lyrical Charger data is permanently stored.

2. Local Storage

The Misread Report form generates a random device identifier stored in your browser's local storage. This is used to prevent abuse and is not linked to your personal identity. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

To send confirmation emails for submitted reports
To prevent abuse and enforce submission limits
To understand aggregate traffic patterns via analytics

4. Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with any other third parties.

5. Data Retention

Misread Reports are retained indefinitely for classification calibration purposes.
Lyrical Charger sessions are automatically deleted after 30 minutes.
Analytics data is retained per Google's standard GA4 retention policies.

6. Your Choices

You can block Google Analytics by using a browser extension such as Google Analytics Opt-out.
You can clear local storage through your browser settings.
You are not required to submit any personal information to use the site. The compass readings and historical data are fully accessible without providing any data.

7. Children's Privacy

The Rising Compass is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
