What is this song about?

A woman who knows this attraction will hurt her names the physical fit between them as the reason she stays in it.

What Might This Song Do to the Listener?

An individual who plays CLICK on repeat develops a readiness to treat physical compatibility as sufficient grounds for a decision. The material sets a clear-eyed forecast of hurt beside an account of two bodies that fit, and with repetition the listener comes to weight the fit above the forecast. Judgment becomes something to overrule.

The presentation is one of narrowed deliberation in matters of attraction. Continued exposure establishes the felt rightness of a pairing as its own justification, and warnings the individual issues to themselves acquire the status of formality. Consent to a known risk arrives faster with each pass.

What Might This Song Do to a Society?

A society that takes CLICK into common circulation grows practised at accepting physical compatibility as a sufficient basis for attachment. Collective rehearsal of a song that states the risk plainly and proceeds anyway establishes the spoken reservation as a courtesy performed before the choice, and mutual desire acquires standing as its own argument. Deliberation moves to the front of the encounter and stops there.

At the population level, people grow quicker to enter attachments they have already appraised as costly, and the interval between recognising a risk and accepting it contracts. Advice among friends comes to function as ritual. Tolerance for foreseeable harm in intimate arrangements rises.

Audience Vibe

The compass reads the lyrics. The Audience Vibe reads the people — the general place the audience thinks the compass should be pointing for this song, not a raw tally of votes. Two needles, one song; the gap between them is the data.

Do you think it should stay where it is, or be pushed further in one direction?

One vote per person per song per year. No single vote can move the needle far — it takes a crowd.

How the Audience Vibe is calculated

The needle is the compass score nudged by the crowd — never a raw tally. Every "push higher," "push lower," and "agree" vote is recombined into one position each time someone votes:

  • Direction comes from the split. Only the gap between higher and lower votes moves the needle. "Agree" votes pull it back toward the compass score.
  • It takes a crowd. Early votes move it gently — a handful shifts it only a point or two. The more lopsided the crowd, the further it goes.
  • It's capped. The audience can pull a song at most 15 points off the compass score, either direction. No pile-on can push it past that.

So a single "push lower" on a song with few votes moves the needle a little (often a point or two), not all the way down — and it can never run away.
